My version of a Rose Mortem skirt

As long as I’ve been making clothes I’ve taken inspiration from other peoples design. It’s not like I always recreate something exactly the same as the example I’ve seen but I just like to take bits and pieces of other designs. You can see it as unoriginal but that’s just how my mind works, and if I like something a lot and I can do something like it without spending a lot of money, why not?
Besides, it’s not like anything is original these days, I think I can safely say everything has been done, one time or another.

Anyway, I could go on and on about that subject but I won’t bore you with that rant. Rose Mortem is a clothing company that has inspired more than 1 of my own fabrications. And then I saw this skirt, fel in love with it and found purple fabric. All I had to do was start sewing.

Do you want to see my version?

Pinskull dress

About a year ago I started to work on this dress but somehow never finished it. So I decided to do that first and after that start working on some other stuff.
I really love the skull fabric but it has no stretch in it at all, so I combined it with some stretchy pinstripe fabric and some plain black stuff and I think it worked out nice together.

You know about my love for maxidresses by now, right? I did it again, lol.

I’m really happy with it and I think I’m going to make a pinstripe bolero with it soon, maybe with shirt and long sleeves because I still have a huge roll of pinstripe fabric, might as well put it to good use, right?

What do you think? Would you wear a dress like this? And if you have any suggestions for a bolero or something I’d love to hear it!

Outfit: I got stripes. Around mah butt!

Usually when I show an outfit there’s a piece of clothing in it that I made myself, but not this time. This stuff was all bought and I wasn’t sure if I would show it because maybe it’s a bit boring to some. But hey, I had already made the pictures so why not show them. 🙂

I bought this skirt from a cheap store in the Netherlands called Action. it has horizontal stripes and I have to say I’m more of a fan of vertical stripes but somehow clothing with vertical stripes is hard to get. Why is that, anyway? Even Obelix knew that horizontal stripes do not do anything for your figure 😉

I bought the satin top online at a Dutch variation of e-bay and I have had it for many years but I still love it, I really like details like the lacing at the sides. It makes a simple piece of clothing so much more interesting. 😀

Do you ever buy clothes at Action or at really cheap stores? And do you ever buy clothes second had or online?
Let me know in the comments 😀

Outfit Vive Maria lace

I wore this outfit some time ago but I forgot about the pictures. I still think it looked pretty cute and I love my Vive Maria clothing so I figured it’s better late then never to show these pictures.

I made the skirt myself and I wear it so much, it just goes with everything, from casual band girlies to tops like these. And I love how this top is tied together really high but it still has that opening at the neckline. 😀

And I have a thing for lace leggings, I think I have at least 5 because they always know how to give an outfit that little extra class.

What do you think of this outfit? And what do you think of the Vive Maria top? Do you own any Vive Maria clothes? I think the clothes are actually a bit too expensive so I always buy them second hand online, saves a lot of money!

Do you evern buy clothes second hand or online? What do you think of Vive Maria items? And do you like this outfit?

Outfit: a new dress, winter variation this time

For a while I’ve been looking for a nice stretchy black fabrick to make some dresses and tops that I’ve had in mind. But somehow the most simple stuff is hardest to get because I run into loads of black fabric but it’s either non-stretch, too thin so you can see right through it or it’s way too expensive.
Maybe I’m just too picky…

Anyway, my mother found me some fabric that has stripes woven in and I really like it so I got to work and made myself a dress that I’ve had in mind for years.

It’s quite simple actually. It has a split on one side at the leg and a bit of a lower neckline and long sleeves. The fabric is really good for this style of dress because it’s really warm and I wanted to make it for winter because I don’t really have a lot of dresses that are still warm enough for the cold months that are coming soon.

I’m so happy with the result and I’ve been wearing it almost non stop. Because it’s pretty basic I can use all kinds of leggings with funky prints and belts and stuff like that. I’m still working in a little black dress with lace sleeves, also with this fabric.

What do you think of this dress? Would you wear it? Please let me know in the comments. 🙂
