I was browsing my Facebook page and I stumbled upon a great page that forwards the most amazing pictures, called The Macabre And the Beautifully Grotesque. When I saw this picture below I was in awe, so gorgeous and somehow pretty sad and tragic.
This was made byMarc Dantan and you can find more of his work *here*. I have no idea what it’s called but it is truly beautiful, my imagination goes wild for pictures like this, looking for a story behind it. To me it looks like the peacock is about to die because if the way the feathers look a bit dull, like most of the life has flowed out of them and the bird is just waiting for what’s about to come, knowing it will come soon enough. No longer being able to strut around parading it’s beauty, maybe even hoping for it to be over because of sadness or pain.
Lately I’ve been neglecting my make-up a bit, you probably noticed. It’s been terribly warm around here and I had to work a lot too so I kept my make-up simple. So there was basically nothing to show on my blog because what I wore was not blog-worthy.
However, I have been visiting the market with a friend and I bought some pretty awesome fabrics and making clothes again. So I figured I could just show you those instead.
The item I finished a couple of days ago is a new skirt. It’s a pretty simple one because I liked the print a lot and I just wanted something very flowy and wide: perfect for hot weather. As you probably know by now, I have a real peacock fetish so this fabric just had to come home with me. It was pretty cheap too and although I rarely wear brown clothes I actually do like this a lot. I didn’t expect that!
I really isn’t very difficult to make, I used about 3 meters of fabric and I just made a very wide A-line top part and used a straight part of the fabric to pleat and sew that to the bottom part of the skirt. It also has an elastic waistband so it’s pretty comfortable to wear, never too tight! I’m so looking forward to wearing this on my upcoming vacation 😀
I also have this fabric in red and I bought some more of that one because that colours is a little bit more up my alley.
But I am very happy with this skirt, what do you think? I’m going to try make more clothes in the future. It has been my #1 hobby but it had lost it’s magic to me because I made clothes for other people on demand too (and working fulltime on my normal job) and that way something fun turns into no-fun-at-all very fast. But making stuff like this for myself is great to do and I have so many fabrics lying around that I really need to start working on that. So more sewing stuff in the future 😀
Let me know what you think of this skirt, would you wear something like this or never look at it again? 😉
I’m going to start working on my pinstripe fabric soon, I have loads of ideas for it but because it’s not exactly the perfect fabric because it curls up when damp or wet so I’ll have to think of something for that. If it ever get’s finished I’ll blog about it!
The day I made this look I was going to my mothers birthday. Well actually it was the birthday of my mother and her twin sister, my aunt. (duh)
They live right next to each other and there’s always a big party in their shared backyard. And it’s almost always good weather so I got to wear a short dress with *this* print so I wanted something with colours but the colours had to be dark.
That calls for a look with my Sleek Bad Girl palette!
Wow, it’s been a couple of days since my last blogpost! I still had this one in a folder so I figured I could write about it. I’m going to have some more fun with other stuff too so I might just skip some more updates. I’ve been working on a couple of sewing projects and I have a lot more in mind and that’s been taking up a lot of my time. And it’s been very, very warm around here and I try to wear as little make-up on those days as possible.
I made this look with the skirt I was wearing in mind, you can see it at the end of this blogpost. It’s one of my new favourite pieces of clothing lately, I love the fabric and the style. And I hear I have a great butt in it. Can’t tell you much about that myself but hey, I think those are pretty cool compliments lol.
Anyway, the fabric is a bit like taffeta, it shifts colour a bit going from a bit pale yellow to blue so I made a look with gold and blue. I thought it looked quite nice actually.
In the Sugarpill Supernova look I was wondering if I should do more galaxy inspired looks. Your comments made it clear you thought this was a good idea so… yay! Like a good little blogger I instantly did what you told me to do and I created a look inspired by this picture.
Yes, red and glitters!!!
